You’ve been to Walt Disney World and Universal Studios on family trips. But, you’ve been with family for a year in quarantine. Now, you’re jonesing for a memory that is all about you and your favorite pals (and by pals I don’t mean the princesses or fabulous five). These tips for a luxury Disney World vacation are extra AF and you’re worth it!
This trip is for adults only, the trip we here at Makin’ Memories Travel love to take when we journey to the theme parks. Once you do a luxury Disney World vacation packed with these insider tips we dare you to ever go back to that big family trip.
Skip the shuttle from the airport. Take a private transfer instead.
Yes, we know. Disney’s Magical Express is free (at least through the end of 2020). But, it also takes FOR-EVER! Why not, get a private ride from furloughed Disney World cast members who are practicing safety protocols and sanitization. You’ll receive help with your luggage (We know you packed plenty for those IG worthy Magic Pass shots 😉.) and get dropped off right to the front door of your Walt Disney World resort. Don’t worry if your room isn’t ready just yet. Leave your luggage at Bell Services and go! By go: we mean to the pool bar. You’ll get a text when your room is ready. You’ll already be lounging at the pool, drink in hand, while everyone else is boarding the bus. That’s luxury Disney World defined.
Stay at a Luxury Walt Disney World Resort
Have you ever stayed on the monorail, overlooking 7 Seas Lagoon and Cinderella’s Castle? Do you prefer to be walking distance to Epcot or wake up with giraffe’s eating right outside your window? This is the trip to splurge for a resort base with plenty of room and luxury defined. Memory Maker’s have superpowers which can match you to the best resort for your stay. We know the resorts with the best pool (Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts), the biggest rooms (Disney’s Old Key West) and the best resort for the Skyliner (Disney’s Rivera Resort). Best activities? Best Spa? There’s a different resort for those options too. Can’t choose one? We can help you with a split stay.
Ready for the Monorail or Skyliner Crawl?
Whoot! Whoot! After relaxing at your resort (instead of rushing into the parks) it’s time to up the ante with some purely adult activities. Enter the Monorail or Skyliner Crawl. The Monorail Crawl used to be our favorite, we’d manage to eat a bite at all 3 stops. But, the Skyliner is far and away our favorite Disney transportation mode, so, we’re all in for Skyliner Crawlin’. No parks admission required!
Your inner Marie will want to start at the Rivera Resort and the Le Petit Cafe where you can dine like an Aristocat. Grab your favorite spirit, glass of wine or adult coffee (our fave!) and order the artisanal cheese plate too.
Next, stop on the Skyliner is the Art of Animation. The Drop-Off Pool Bar has a cocktail which looks and sounds suspiciously like our favorite beverage in all the World, the boozie dole-whip. Here it is called, Captain’s Pineapple. The pretzel with cheese sauce wins our snack choice for this stop.
Hop-on to the Skyliner (isn’t this fun, no designated driver is required) and head over to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort and the Banana Cabana pool side bar. Where you can walk-up and order the signature Banana Cabana drink or perhaps the rum flight is more to your liking (yes, please)! And, the loaded potato fries? Yes, please again.
How’s that for a luxurious first night at Disney World? Our Memory Makers even have some curated swag for the challenge.
Walt Disney World Dining
This is OG Michele’s favorite topic and we’d be here 4-EVER if we listed all the best places for adults to eat at the Walt Disney World Resort. We’ll just name our Top 3 Luxury Walt Disney World restaurants where you can dine without going into the theme parks.
Walt Disney World’s description pretty much says it all, “Savor a superior fine dining experience at one of the most preeminent restaurants in Walt Disney World Resort. Victoria & Albert’s features modern American cuisine crafted with exquisite ingredients from around the world, including truffles from Italy, Russian Osetra caviar, beef from Japan, poulet rouge from North Carolina and local Florida shrimp.” As if just dinin’ there isn’t enough, we can’t wait to add dinin’ at the Chef’s Table to our done and done. 🤞 for the 50th Anniversary Celebration Trip in October.
Although, it hasn’t been the same since the rotating souffle’ left the menu, the bar and restaurant at the top of the Contemporary Resort still merits space on this list. Be sure to ask for a table on the open kitchen side of the dining room and step outside on the walkway to get a look (and a pic) of Cindy’s castle in all her nighttime glory. Our favorite item on the menu are the plant-based blueberry doughnuts. For Reals!
According to Disney’s website, “Dine on tapas, seafood and steak in style at this Spanish haven inspired by surrealist art and the 1930s avant-garde.” Your food presentation will be as beautiful as it is delicious. You will not go wrong with the Chef’s Signature Dinner for two. It includes tapas style desserts–4 different kinds. We likey!
Every luxury vacation deserves some ME (and ME only) time, right? Walt Disney World is no exception, especially if you’re feet are tired from spending all day at the theme parks (which we don’t recommend, BTW). Walt Disney World has spa locations where you can treat yourself to a pedicure, massage or get character couture make-up (for the Insta pics). We’ve spent some time in each one of the resort spas, our favorite and now Go-To is Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Senses Spa. Bring on some of the signature scent and scrub, Citrus Grove. Available for massage or facial. Heck, why not both? Why should Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boutique be just for adults? For Halloween, Michele went all in on her make-up to show off for Minnie Mouse.
All these luxury vacation tips and you haven’t even set foot into the theme parks yet? Now, you’re ready to take on the world traveler challenge and hit all 4 theme parks in one day. The best way to accomplish this goal is with VIP access to the parks and the lines. Enter your friendly private VIP Tour Guide. Available for up to a party of 10 people with a 7-hour minimum–you can go all day. Your VIP Tour Guide and Memory Maker will customize your entire day to you. You’ll be picked up by a private car at your resort and whisked away through back stage areas to get to your attraction of choice. After a full day of park-hopping, your guide will take you right back to your resort via your private coach. No dealing with the mass exodus for you.
