Salem is most notable for its infamous witch trials that date back to 1692, making it the most famous Halloween town in the US. If you’re hoping to celebrate Halloween in Salem, you can find haunted happenings throughout the month of October. You can do a self-guided tour of the famous Salem Witch Trial Museum, you can take a night stroll with Salem Ghosts to discover why Salem is the most haunted city and for some real witches and warlocks psychic readings you can check out the Festival of the Dead. There are lots of Halloween family-friendly activities you can find too. There’s a whole website dedicated to Salem Haunted Happenings.
Sleepy Hollow, NY
Located just 30 miles north of Manhattan, Sleepy Hollow was the site featured in Washington Irving’s short story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” This quaint little town serves as a popular Halloween city that still boasts its iconic unofficial mascot, the Headless Horseman.
Adults who embrace the Halloween Holiday need to be sure the Great Jack-o-Lantern Blaze is on the top of the to-do list. Thousands of hand-carved pumpkins illuminate the historic Van Cortlandt Manor where you’ll find sooktacular outdoor displays, with synchronized lighting and an original Halloween soundtrack.

Famous for Voodoo New Orleans sets the stage for all manner of third eye explorations. Take a walking tour of the most infamous haunted sites in the French Quarter. Join the city’s mystical séance. Take a cemetery tour or spend a night in a ghostly hotel.
Krewe of BOO! is New Orleans’ Official Halloween Parade which encompasses a whole weekend of Halloween-themed events, combining the magnitude of Mardi Gras with the macabre theatrics of All Hallow’s Eve.

Colonial Williamsburg, VA
Colonial Williamsburg celebrates the Halloween season with Haunting on DoG (Duke of Gloucester) Street . Experience Halloween festivities along Duke of Gloucester (DoG) Street include the Haunted Williamsburg official walking ghost tour with costumed storytellers strolling through town, into gardens, and beyond the barriers to the most haunted sites of the colonial town.
You can also don a costume and trick-or-treat along DoG. Don’t be surprised if you encounter horsemen atop skeleton steeds, Blackbeard and his band of Buccaneers and other surprises. You can also participate in the Haunted Auction, Pumpkin Patch Dance Party and other Happy Haunting activities.

There is the not so scary Boo Bash Halloween parties, the more intense Halloween Horror Nights and the Spooktacularly Fun Halloween on the High Seas cruise. Transylvania—could there be a more iconic place to visit for Halloween? What makes this a particularly spine chilling place to visit, is its correlation with Dracula. A real “dracula” once lived here and was famed for his heartless killing methods. Then Bram Stoker based the fictional Dracula’s castle off the prominent Bran Castle in Transylvania. The past has made the Romanian region a beloved place for a spooky celebration. Otherwise, Transylvania offers breathtaking landscape and architecture. But we are here to tell you why you should visit during Halloween.
